Question : I was diagnosed with mononucleosis yesterday after showing symptoms for two weeks. most concerning I had mental symptoms last week including extreme paranoia ocd anxiety and panic attacks as well as feeling like I was in a fog and seperate from my self. the dr have me amoxicillin thinking I had strep could that have affected me? curious if my mental symptoms are normal for such a viral infection. also, will I recover fully as I feel mentally better today but just weak.

                                    Brief Answer:
Your mental symptoms are normal for a viral infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, and would try my best to help you.
Mental symptoms such as yours are common with viral fever, especially during episodes of fever, and most often, they are self-limiting (they get better on own). So, there is no need to worry.
Best wishes,
