Question: Hi I am a 59 yr old woman who looks no older than 45. I work out and eat well. I do take adderal because of the speed I get from it :( The adderal makes me drink in the evening to calm down. Unfortunately I have been drinking my whole life. I need to quit but can't seem to. A bottle of wine a night... Liver function tests are normal . Total Cholesterol 228 HDL is always high it was 106 LDL Cholesterol Calc 108 Triglycerides 68 I had an ultrasound on my liver 5 years ago and was told it was a fatty liver. I am 5'6" and weigh 131. Is it too late for me ? My liver ? What viamins can I take to get rid of this fatty liver ? I am going to try once again to drink less.

Brief Answer: stop drinking, take statins, repeat sonography, Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX Fatty liver occurs due to drinking alcohol and having high cholesterol. Generally the sonography tells grade of fatty liver. If it is grade 1 fatty liver you have nothing to worry. I suggest you get a repeat sonography because 5 years old report is of no significance now. It is never too late and also fatty liver is reversible condition so its definitely not late. Yes you should cut down on drinking as it increase fatty liver. Also adderal is not a drug which has good reviews and i will advise you to stop it if you can. There are no vitamins for fatty liver but drugs called statins which you should take. They reduce fatty liver and also have hardly any side effects.
