Brief Answer:
The pebble like stools are faecoliths

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcaremagic
Greetings of the day
Dear Ms

I would take this opportunity to wish you all A very Happy New year 2015.

Going by your description they are faecoliths (faecal stones is the literal meaning ). They usually occur due to excess absorption of water from the faecal matter causing the remnant stools to be hard like pebbles.

Following are predisposing factors

1. Decreased intake of water

2. Decreased intake of fiber in diet

3. Lack of physical activity and exercise

I would suggest you the following

1. Ensure good intake of water : 2 to 3 liter a day

2. High fiber diet : 2 servings of vegetable salad and 2 servings of fruits especially citrus fruit will ensure adequate intake of fiber in diet

3. Laxatives like Lactulose will be helpful.

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take care

Best regards

The stools themselves are not hard but the tiny round pebblles or the flat crystal like black things are inside the stools. It feels like I am being sliced. You can flick off some ofothe flatter structures which are very thin and flat but irregularly shaped. Does that change your answer?
