Question : I may have had something that I would call a seizure. I'm not sure if that's accurate. I'm sitting at my desk looking at my computer screen and all of a sudden I feel blood rushing to my head and dizziness overcomes me, I close my eyes and it passes. Usually when these events happen which are pretty infrequent, they only they only take a couple of seconds and are no big deal. This morning it seemed to last about 10 seconds, much longer than usual. I feel fine now, but I'm a little concerned about it. I am a stroke patient. I did have a stroke three years ago and am largely recovered from it. Is what I am describing a seizure or possibly something else?

Brief Answer:
Stroke and seizure both need to be ruled out

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Based on your description, its likely to be a migraine headache. Though one cant let go the possibility of a stroke or seizure. You are taking the correct medication for stroke prevention. Blood counts, electrolytes, metabolic profile including blood sugar should be done. Blood pressure should also be checked and if elevated should be controlled to minimize the risk. Lipid profile , coagulation profile may also be done. Possibility of adding a statin should be considered if the LDL is disproportionately high. The metabolic , CNS anatomic and toxic causes related to seizure would require the above investigations and probably a CT scan, in consultation with your doctor. Try to relax and go to an ER near you if the pulsatile sensations return and persist for long.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
