Detailed Answer:
Hi,thank you for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

Lump in the throat along with pain might be due to following common reasons:

1.) Inflammation in the throat -Pharyngitis
2.) Gastroesophageal Reflux(GERD)
3.) Posterior nasal drip resulting from inflammation in the nose or sinuses-the secretions from the nose drain backwards in the throat and cause irritation and inflammation.

You may find relief by taking the following medication:
Analgesic with Antiinflammatory like Ibuprofen (200-400 mg thrice daily after food for 2-3 days),
Antacid like Rantac (150mg twice daily before food),
Antihistaminic like Cetrizine (10mg once daily at bed time) and Oral decongestant like Pseudoephedrine if you are suffering from cold(take Decongestant only if you are not suffering from hypertension,heart/kidney/liver disease, high pressure in the eyes-Glaucoma).

Also, do warm saline gargles. Avoid cold, spicy, oily, junk foods. Drink lots of warm fluids. Take a minimum gap of 2 hours between eating and sleeping. Avoid heavy dinner.

After following the above measures, if your symptoms are not improving, then it would be advisable to consult an Otolaryngologist doctor for the throat and nose examination.

Hope this answers your question. I would be happy to answer if you have any further questions.
Take care.
