I have been suffering with tightening around my throat. I am told by my go that this is a symptom of anxiety (of which I do suffer). However this has now lasted for around 4 months continually. I am a little concerned around the fact that nearly all of my other symptoms have gone apart from this. I also feel like I may have some swelling in my esophagus which. Can you give me some advice please?

Brief Answer:
Such symptom can be casued by acid reflux.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Such symptom can be caused by an anxiety indeed. However it may also indicate some mild esophageal reflux problem. In some cases stomach acid gets back to the esophagus and throat. This can cause throat discomfort, cough, problems with swallowing.
Moreover, anxiety can be the reason of increased stomach acid secretion and trigger acid reflux.
I suggest you to try to modify your diet. Please avoid fatty foods, spicy foods, fried foods, coffee, alcohol, chocolate, orange juice.
Please also note that anxiety may need some medicines to stop giving you symptoms. So if this wont help, you should consult gastrologist to rule out acid reflux issue. As a next step you may need psychiatrist consult and consider medicines for anxiety.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
