Question : Hello, about 9 weeks ago i had protected vaginal sex. I did give her oral and finger her. i had a small cut on my finger, and also have weak gums in my mouth and some work that needs to be done on a broken tooth. about a week ago i came down with the flu, and when i went to the doctor it came back as negative for the flu. its been a week since i got sick still have a little fever but i do feel almost back to normal. Besides fever at night and this cough i have during the day. I was wondering do i have any risk of HIV ? after about 4 weeks i tested negative on the oraquick home test. Should i test again? if so when? Also my head has been hurting but i think thats because i cough all day. it only hurts at night time

Brief Answer:
Stands risk of HIV

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

The fact that you had an open wound puts you at risk of contracting HIV. 9 weeks is too early to pick up HIV, the window period for HIV is about 3 months ( 12 weeks), I recommend that you wait another three weeks for a more accurate blood test.
In the mean time I suggest you to take tab levocetrizine for cough, it can be taken twice a day for 5 days. For the fever I suggest you to manage with Paracetamol ( acetaminophen) three times a day, I would not start antibiotics as it is getting better.

However if the fever increases and the cough worsens then please approach your doctor for further evaluation

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

It was like a paper cut not necessarily an open wound and could have been days that it happened I can't remember fully

Brief Answer:
Exposure to open wound

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the clarification, if the wound had healed then the risk of infection would be far lesser. However open wound in your gums also could have posed some amount of risk, furthermore it is said that risk of infection through oral sex is much lesser compared to vaginal sex.
