                                            Question : Hi,
Since this morning I am having mild fever, body ache and headache. I was playing tennis yesterday in quite a cold windy condition, not sure if I got a cold flu. My question is what these symptoms mean? What over the counter medicine (I live in US) I should take and how frequently? Please mention the doses.
Thanks

                                    Brief Answer:
Yes... A virus (flu) seems likely..
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The symptoms can very well be from a viral infection similar to cold flu. More than medicines, I will encourage you to rest adequately. Drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated. Add lots of fruits and veggies.
As far as medication, you can safely take plain tylenol thrice or four times a day. If headache and body pain is not controlled with tylenol, ibuprofen 200mg can be added twice a day along with regular antacids.
Cold flu like virus cause short term symptoms that usually resolve in 2-3 days. If you don't get better in the next 3 days, schedule a visit to the local doctor.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.
Regards

Thanks again.

                                    Brief Answer:
That's common...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Intermittent spells of fever is common and not concerning. I would put you on tylenol every 6-8 hours; that should control the fever.
As far as food is concerned, prefer to avoid hot and spicy food. Simple bland food will do. And as I said earlier include lots of fruits and vegetables. It is highly recommended to take additional fluids and stay hydrated.
Viral fever is self resolving one. You need not be concerned. In case this fever lasts for more than 3 days, you should consult a doctor to rule out other causes of fever.
