Question: Hi - my girlfriend has taken since 10 days 40g of omeprazole each day. She had serious headaches previously but now suffers from serious joint pains as well as fever? Do we need to see the hospital immediately? Is it ok to take paracetamol?

Brief Answer:
possibly a viral infection

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Fever and joint pain are often symptoms of a viral infection particularly if it is an acute (short term ) presentation and not symptoms that have been recurring persistently.
A viral illness would also cause her headaches to worsen.

Paracetamol would be appropriate, it would help with both the fever and the joint pain. In adults it can be used up to 4 g a day (8 tablets- 2 tablets every 6 hours).
Other aspects of temperature management would be tepid sponging, use of cool liquids and clothing.

IF the paracetamol does not help the pain or it worsens, she should consider seeing a doctor.
Additional symptoms may present so that the type of viral infection can be determined. One of the most common would be the flu.

As the symptoms emerge, then additional treatment options can be added.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
