Question : This happened twice in the last month- my throat got massively sore to the point I could not swallow saliva ( I had head and neck radiation 7 years ago) that was followed by shivering to the point my body was shaking. I had a 102 temperature ( normal for me is 98). Went to bed, woke up, fever is gone , throat feels better but I feel like I played a football game yesterday. This happened both times.....

Brief Answer:
pharyngitis probably

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

fever and sore throat are common in upper respiratory tract infections. It's not strange that you had two of them close to each other because at this period of time such infections are more prevalent. Your doctor should examine you and try to estimate the cause. If it's more likely to be bacterial then antibiotics can be prescribed. Otherwise only painkillers (for the sore throat) may help. Paracetamol (acetaminophen) may help a little with fatigue and malaise.

I hope you find my comments helpful!
Kind Regards!
