Question : My 3 year old son developed a virus recently that's produced a slight fever on the onset. This was cleared up by children's Tylenol given one time in the morning and one time in the evening. However over the course of a couple days there are sores on his lip and around his mouth, some on the tip of his nostril. They are red and small in nature. None on his palms or on the bottom of his feet. When I took him to the PA she had stated it was a specific virus but did not write on the discharge sheet. I have been sucking out the mucous in his nose. I've been spraying Dr. XXXXXXX Med nasal spray. I've been giving him vitamin C and fresh squeezed orange juice. What is the name of this virus so I can look up any additional supportive care to give him
Brief Answer:
Virus
Detailed Answer:
Hello. I just read through your question.
The most common virus of the type you describe is Coxsackie virus. It is a virus that ultimately resolves on it's own and is pretty harmless. The sores can at times be painful. but the do resolve.

It's possible. To be honest, it's not something I ever heard of. But it certainly can't hurt.
