What Causes Flaky And Raised Skin On Chest?

Question: Ive had this spot on my cheat for over 5 months now, it appered out of no where. Its not itchy, doesnt hurt. But i had scrached it and it became flaky. It also is some time raised. I have a history of skin cancer in my family. Im 18 female. What can this be? This is a close up picture. Thank you.

This looks like a mole. Most of moles are benign skin lesions which should be under observation. No need to remove them. However if a mole starts changing shape, size, color, gets itchy or painful, it should be removed and tested by a pathologist.
We call such mole suspicious. It should be removed to rule out melanoma malignum.
History of skin cancer in the family has nothing to do with it.

I suggest you to consult dermatologist. He should take a look at this mole with dermatoscope (special magnifying tool).
