default
Posted on Mon, 24 Oct 2016
Question: I have pain on my right flank, back just below my ribs. Three times in the last 36 hours it has flared up to an 8 level of pain and lasts about 30 minutes. I think it may be kidney related. It is not the same as typical back pain. Feels kind of like a cramp. I am 60 an male. I do not have any changes to my urine or ability to release urine.

Brief Answer:
It does sound like a kidney pain. Get Ultrasound done.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome to Health Care Magic and Thanks for your question.
It does seem like a kidney pain.
I suggest you get an Ultrasound Abdomen and KUB done along with a Urine RE test. These investigations would be able to clearly define the cause of pain and treatment can be started depending upon the report
Meanwhile for the pain should take Tab Diclofenac sodium but on a full stomach after meals. maximum two a day.
Please do let me know if there are other queries on this issue. I would be more than happy to guide you.
Take care,
