Question : My blood sugar readings have been progressively higher the past 2 weeks - ranging from 158 until this am it was 211 and after breakfast it was 243. I has clearly concerned me should I go to ER? Thank you. XXXXXXX XXXX

Welcome to HCM,

I have read your query,

243 blood sugar is definitely high but not a worrisome except that if you have any symptoms. Your blood sugar range from 158 to 211 today in past 2 weeks is also on a higher side but it is not a dangerous and can be easily brought under control with appropriate increase in the drug's dose.

You may need some dose adjustments of your anti-diabetic drugs and should strictly avoid further sugar in diet which you must be doing already.

Since your fasting blood sugar reading is more then you will need to increase the night dose of your drugs. You can consult your regular treating doctor who will make adjustment to the dose as per your need.

There is no need to see any doctor urgently in my opinion.
