Question : My mother's platelet count is not improving. My mother has some viral fever an year back. Doctor improved the platelet count to 85k. Now after a test, her platelet count is 45k. Is there anyway to maintain the levels?
Brief Answer:
Possible Chronic ITP
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.
I can understand your concern.
Based on the given data, the possibility of Chronic ITP is high.
ITP is immune thrombocytopenic purpura.
It can arise in the setting of previous viral infections.
For confirmation, I advise her to get a peripheral platelet smear and platelet-associated IgG antibodies.
Further management is based on test results.
Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
