Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to HCM forum.
What you are suffering is a condition called CSOM (chronic suppurative otitis media).
If the discharge and ringing does not come down with augmentin, the causative organism may be resistant to it, or there may be associated complications like mastoiditis that prevents complete resolution.
So we have to do a culture sensitivity test of the discharge to find out the antibiotic susceptibility of the organism ,and evaluate for any complications (this needs detailed ENT examination followed by an x-ray and sometimes CT scanning).
If complications are ruled out, this can be treated with susceptible antibiotics in full course along with antiinflammatory and antihistaminic agents. After controlling the infection, the eardrum perforation can be dealt with accordingly.
Kindly see an ENT specialist at the earliest for guidance. Delay in treatment can cause serious complications like hearing impairment, intracranial infections etc.
Meanwhile, avoid water entry to the said ear. Avoid cold atmosphere and cold drinks (as any upper respiratory infection can worsen the situation).
Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing for a faster and complete cure.
Thank you.
