Question: Hi doc
My wife was just diagnosed with Ureaplasma Urealyticum. We have 6 y/o doughter and she`s been having problems with urinary tract infection. Can those things be connected??? Should we test her for UU? Thank you for your help

Let me explain that it is not having Ureaplasma urealytic which is a problem. It is the count that matters. We all that various bacteria present in our urinary tract. But if the count rises above 10^5 (i.e. 1,00,000) it counts as urinary tract infection. So, there may or may not be any connection between the issue that your wife and daughter has.

If your daughter is having urinary issues, you should get her urine tested for routine microscopy and culture sensitivity.
