Question : My bowel movements are more frequent than usual and are sometimes (the 3rd or 4th of the day) slimy - with mucas. This isn't all the time - maybe every 2-3 weeks??

Thank you for the query.

At your age (over 50) any change in stool pattern should be checked with colonoscopy. Please note that the risk of colon cancer significantly rises over 50. Symptoms like yours can be caused by several issues including an infection, hypothyroidism, medicines (hypertension especially) and unfortunately a colon cancer.
I do not assume that you have a cancer. I just want you to be 100% sure you dont have it.

So please do not wait any longer. Consult your doctor and have colonoscopy done at first.
