Brief Answer:
Could be due to nerve compression.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.

Shooting pain in you arm could be due to nerve compression at the cervical spine. I suggest you to get an xray of cervical spine and arm and get it examined by your orthopaedician.

Hope this helps you.

Warm regards.
