What Causes Frequent Spells Of Lightheadedness?

Question: Thank you for the follow up. A couple of times I passed out for a few seconds--in a store, about 4 months ago, when getting up from a squat, then in our garage about 3 weeks ago while standing in our garage I went out and slid down against my wife who was just behind me--which kept me from falling onto a concrete step.
I am still having some trouble with lightheadedness once in a while, but after an ECHOgram, urine, blood, neck veins, pacemaker checks, CT scan, etc. nothing has shown up! I'm trying to breathe deeply as I get up, and keep hydrated, too. It was suggested that, that I have a condition [not sure of the name] in which as one changes positions, the blood pressure doesn't keep as one rises, so I have to be very careful to get up slowly, and have a cane or pole or solid surface close. I'm still driving now, with no problems; had thought about a heart monitor, but will wait for now since things have been okay.
Do you have a any suggestions or thoughts for me to consider? Thanks you very much

Brief Answer:
Syncope or orthostatic hypotension
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting HCM
From you description you have orthostatic hypotension. It is when you get from sitting to standing that you blood pressure drops. To help keep your blood pressure steady you need to keep hydrated and get up slowly from sitting to standing.
The last test to do is a heart monitor or what's called a holter monitor. This is a heart recording device that records your heart rate for 24-48 hours. Sometimes it can catch the low blood pressure and sometimes it can't.
There is little else that can be done at this time.
