Question : My 85-year-old mother has an almost constant sensation of needing to urinate. She has symptoms of Parkinson's and has had abdominal surgery for uterine cancer. I see there are explanations, including depression, but what can be done? She is frail, doesn't eat enough, and some days is in the bathroom 90% of her waking hours.

Brief Answer:
supportive care

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Bladder irritation is a possibility with repeated surgeries of abdomen once for uterus and then associated neurological illness of parkinson's might be playing a role as well and could be a sequelae of medications too.

I would suggest supportive care and thorough workup to rule out any bladder irritation cause possibly infections not just bacterial but fungals too as its immuno compromise stage and at risk. Bladder antispasmodics and reducing fluid intake in second half of the day will help.

Talk to a geriatrician and let them decide what is best for her. I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
