You might have benign enlargement of prostate or diabetes
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. It is probable that you have recently developed an enlarged prostate gland which is causing you to pass urine frequently.
2. The prostate is a small potato shaped structure at the outlet of the urinary bladder and surrounds the urethra and its enlargement causes pressure on the base of urinary bladder.
3. This is normal in young males and after 60 years it starts enlarging. This enlargement is hormone related and called benign enlargement of prostate. Around 5 to 10 percent of males of your age might have this problem and it is confirmed by measuring the volume of prostate by ultrasound scan.
4. If your prostate is mildly enlarged then it can get treated by taking medicine regularly.Should your prostate be normal in size then other causes like urinary infection or any conditions in the bladder should be evaluated. There is also a specific blood test called prostate specific antigen (PSA) that should also be done for you.
5. Diabetes is a less likely possibility but also requires evaluation. Please also get tested for diabetes by doing tests as recommended by your doctor.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
