What Causes Frequent Urination?

default
Posted on Sat, 3 Oct 2015
Question: Last Thursday I felt like urinating all the time. There was no pain so I watched and it continued in Friday as well. On Friday saw a doctor and was prescribed ciprofloxacin 500 twice. Friday night I started having mild pain on left side of abdomen. I don't feel like urinating all the time now. But I have pain in abdomen on both sides. It is more on the side in lower and middle. Does not radiate to back. What can be the cause? No other symptom.

Brief Answer:
Looks to be urinary tract infection as per history, need investigations...

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read and understood that you had frequency of urination for which you were prescribed Cipro and this symptom got lessened but the pain in both sides of abdomen started. No radiation - no other symptoms.

Such a problem may be due to urinary tract infection which has now spread to the kidneys and hence the bilateral abdominal problem.

I would advise you the following:
First of all send your Urine sample for tests:Routine, microscopy, culture and sensitivity (may be negative as you have already taken Cipro, but still to be done).
Tests of blood for WBC
Ultrasonography of hte abdomen.
Continue Ciprofloxacin 500 in twice a day dosages for 7 to 14 days for complete cure.
Drink plenty of oral fluids.
Once the diagnosis is made, the tests will decide which further tests or medicines to be added.
I hope this answer helps you to get a proper diagnosis, and get a proper further treatment. Please feel free to ask for more if you need to or if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

I did urine cue and blood test and abdomen use and they all came to be normal except 1-3 pus cells in urine. The doctor switched me to ofloxacin 400 bd for five days. Ofloxacin is making me feel lethargic and causing pain in my leg. Should I continue my course for five days. I have only taken one dose so far.
