Could be due to gastritis or food poisoning. Give ORS
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. The first thing that I need to ask is the age of your child. The cause could vary significantly based on the age. The cause in a newborn would be different from that in an adolescent. In any case, it could be due to food poisoning which could be due to intake of contaminated food. I doubt if it could be due to swallowing anything else. Treatment of the cause is secondary. The primary mode of treatment is ORS (oral rehydration solution) to replenish for the lost water and salts. Let me know the age and any other relevant details and I would guide you further.
Let me know if I could help further.

Give ondansetron. Give ORS.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. You need to give your child some antiemetic like ondansetron (5 ml of Ondem syr) as and when needed, especially before feeds (15 min-30 min prior to feeds). Also give Nexpro XXXXXXX (esomeprazole) one such twice daily before food. The mainstay of treatment is ORS (oral rehydration solution). Unless the lost salts and fluids are replenished the child would become dehydrated. The urine output needs to be monitored. If the frequency comes down it indicates dehydration and calls for additional supplementation of fluids. But if the child becomes lethargic you would need to take the child to a hospital without delay.
You need to be patient. The vomiting may continue for a couple of days (irrespective of treatment). You need to continue giving ORS.
