Question : My wife and are having flu-like symptoms with vomiting and diaahera, also stomach pain.
What can we do?

Thanks for the query

More than flu it looks like she is suffering from gastro enteritis. Here is how you should go about it

1. Tab Omeprazole is the ideal tablet to be taken for the vomiting. It has to be taken once a day before food for 5 days
2. Tab sporolac three times a day should stop the diarrhea in a couple of days
3. If she is continuously vomiting, I recommend ORS sachets. It has to be mixed with 1 litre of water and drank sip by sip over 4 hours. It will reduce the vomiting and also keep her hydrated
4. Avoid milk, milk products and caffeine
5. Avoid spicy food
6. I usually suggest my patients semi solid food like porridge until they are able to tolerate solid food. Food should be bland.
