Question : Hi, I've had a cold for 3 weeks now. My nose is full of very thick green gunck and very hard to get rid of when I blow my nose. Sometimes my ears crackle also when I blow my nose. I haven't been able to taste or smell XXXXXXX thing for 2 weeks and I've got a horrible taste in my mouth. I've got a cough also and sometimes I cough up green gunk. I was on antibiotics for a week, one tablet a day, I finished my course of antibiotics but I didn't see any difference. Please could you help.

Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I have reviewed this information and at this time I will recommend that you stop all medications at this time. I will recommend frequent rinsing of the nostrils with normal saline(salt and water). This will ensure that they are not blocked and all stagnant secretions would be washed off avoiding further infections.

In all, stop all drugs. Rinse nostrils often with normal saline. Increased fluids, fruits and healthy diet.
