Brief Answer:
due to foods or stool frequency

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

The colour of stool can vary and rarely indicates that there is any significant problems with the bowel.

Changes in bile are normally responsible for the brown colour of stool. As bile passes through the colon with the stool it undergoes chemical changes that result in the brown colour normally seen.

Green stool can occur due to changes in diet or as a result of increased frequency of using the bathroom.

If stool is eliminated frequently then the bile does not have the chance to undergo the normal chemical changes and therefore the stool appears green.

Green stool can also occur as a result of use of green leafy vegetables, iron supplements (foods with high iron content) and foods with artificial colouring.

You can consider monitoring the stool to see if it persists.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

I also have had now for over a year now where my belly button pops out not always but more frequently than 6 months ago when I was told I have a umbilical hernia. It is not painful but noticing a slight tinge of light purple on my belly button now. Could this have anything to do with my green stool and is umbilical thing of concern because 6 months ago the doctor was not concerned about it?

Brief Answer:
not likely related

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Yes, that sounds like an umbilical hernia. The hernia would not impact on your stool colour.
In rare cases, a hernia can become trapped and this can result in pain and also obstruction of the bowel which would cause bloating ,constipation and vomiting in some.

If the hernia is small and not associated with any complications (pain) then it is normally only monitored.
If you start experiencing discomfort related to it then you should consider consulting your doctor.
