Question: Hi I am 60 year old .I had a blood clod 4 year ago ,I was takeing off hormones pill.I took warfarin for a year .In this time my hair started coming out and having hot flashes.I don't go out side because i can't stand the heat . My clothes will be wringing wet,and I.feeli will like I will pass out. I use to like to cook but I hate it now ,because wringing wet. I wish have have the air condition.and a fan in the floor but it don't help very much.. I don't leave the house very much because I will have to blow my hair at lest three time . By the time I have to go my make up is running off and my hair is wet again.when I go to the grocery store .by the time I ready to leave I am wringing wet again. My husband can't sleep in the same room , he had to put and extra window air condition , that not including the central air condition we run. Most of the time when I go to bed I ca't shut my mind down ,if I try to force my self to sleep I will have anxiety attacks.is this just hot flashes or something else. I take Venlafaxine ER 225 MG Tablets. It help some. .if I didt have this I don't think make it as bad as I have them now.

Brief Answer:
maybe hit flash but keep other things in mind

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

The symptoms are possible in hot flashes as in postmenopausal women but some points are peculiar. In your case this appears to be continuous and not episodic like typical hot flashes. And venlafaxine works quite well in that while you seem to derive little benefit from it.

So other hormonal disorders like hyperthyroidism need to be excluded. You can talk to your endocrinologist regarding this.

Hope this helps. I will be available for follow up.
Regards
