Question : I am 68.male. I notice that as i get older i am losing hair in my arms and legs. Just getting thin and not coming back. Ive never been a really hairy guy but this is strange! Whats going on
Brief Answer:
hormonal changes?
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
as we grow older the hair become thinner usually. But there are some disorders that have to be investigated before attributing your hair problem to aging.
Certain hormonal disorders may cause hair loss. Hypothyroidism is one of them and male hormone disorders is another one. They can be detected with simple blood tests. You should consult and endocrinologist for that. TSH and testosterone levels are good screening tests.
Other causes may include autoimmune diseases like lupus, liver problems (cirrhosis), etc.
