Brief Answer:
it is a rare possible side effect

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Topal xl is the trade name for the medication, metoprolol.

It does have possible side effects like all medications. Hair loss is a rare side effect that can occur in 0.01% to 0.1% of persons, this means in 1 in 10 000 to 1 in 1000 persons who use this medication can have this problem.

So it is a rare possible side effect and you can consider speaking to your doctor about the possibility but you may also want to consider looking for other causes just in case there is another cause.
Other possible causes would be: (A) anemia
(b)hereditary
(c)hypothyroidism- low thyroid hormone
(d)autoimmune disease such as lupus
(e)recent severe illness or stress

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
