Question : What are the possible interractions of Latuda with a person who has an extreme case of Gilbert's Syndrome? He has had a phychotic break with shitzo-affective hallucinations X2 weeks. In hospital, they tried Seroquel, which is contra-indicated for people with Gilbert's, and can actually trigger flares, or cause them. He is trying to work with the doctors, but they don't believe him when he tells them how bad the latter medication makes him feel. They have offered him Latuda. Does this have any contra-indications for a person with such a severe form of genetic hyper-bilirubinism?I apologize for the many tyops in the above. I was typing very quickly, and didn't properly spell check before hitting Enter.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

Latuda does not cause any serious side effects in patients with XXXXXXX syndrome.

In XXXXXXX syndrome, there is deficiency of the enzyme UGT1A1. Because of this , the uptake of bilirubin by liver is affected and its level in blood raises ( but never more than 3-5 mg/dL).
Latuda and bilurubin have different metabolic pathways.
So taking Latuda does not worsen the symptoms of XXXXXXX syndrome.
Also XXXXXXX syndrome does not increase the incidence of side effects of Latuda.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
