Question: My 3 year old son has a hard bony knot on his head between his temple and his hairline above his eyebrow. It is about the size of a pea. It has been there a few months but when we start getting concirned it shrinks but seems to come back to this pea size again. No symptoms other than the knot. Any ideas on what it is? I thought it was a cyst but it wont move and ive never heard of one there.

Brief Answer:
Visit a doctor and get it evaluated without delay

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

The first thing that I would like to say is that it is perhaps not bony. Had it been so, it would not have reduced in size. What bothers me is that there could be an intracranial extension of the same.

The first thing that you need to do is to visit a doctor and get it examined. A CT Scan or MRI might be needed to confirm about the intracranial extension. It is hard to comment further without examining it.
