Posted on Mon, 24 Nov 2014
Question: I received a pneumonia vaccine last Thursday, it has almost been a week. it left a golf ball size hard lump, pain and the redness has now covered my upper arm completely and seems to be heading down towards my lower arm. It is really bright red and hot. I have felt queazy and slightly off since the vaccination. I don't know if this is serious and should I go to the hospital or will this get better with time and what can I do about it.

Brief Answer:
Spreading infection-need emergency treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,welcome to HCM forum.

So sorry to hear this.
This indicates infection of the vaccine site, with progression to surrounding tissue.
This need institution of antibiotic treatment at the earliest to avoid complications like sepsis, multi organ dysfunction etc.

Kindly reach the ER without delay. Most probably this will need admission and intravenous antibiotics. Also,we have to drain puss collection if any.Your doctor will guide in this.

Hope this will answer your query.
Wishing for a faster cure.
Thank you.
