What Causes Headache And Nausea With Plasma In The Urine?

default
Posted on Thu, 10 Apr 2014
Question: I have a really bad headache (it has been there for a month) - heavy pressure dull pain. Today I feel nauseous too (but no vomiting). Every time I pass urine there is this plasma in the urine (however, no foul smell or cloudy urine) this has been happening for 3 - 4 days now... I was diagnosed to be pregnant a week ago but in a recent scan 2 days ago and yesterday they could not see anything in the uterus or tubes. a recent HCG report showed 160 beta HCG count...

Brief Answer: MISCARRIAGE LIKELY Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for writing to us with your health concern. Can you tell me when was your last period ? Also, the normal pattern of your menstrual cycles please ? The B HCG report has to be corelated with the days of gestation, hence I am requesting the details. Also, can you upload the scans that are done so far ? Based on the limited information provided, it appears that you have had a miscarriage spontaneously. A rare diagnosis is an ectopic pregnancy, but that generally shows up on a scan. That would explain the nausea . Cloudiness in urine and headaches are also common in early pregnancy. If the headache is unrelenting , you should consult a Neurologist for a detailed evaluation . A complete urine examination ( routine microscopy plus culture ) also should be done. Do write back with more details. All the best Please feel free to discuss further.

Brief Answer: NO CHANCE OF A PREGNANCY. Detailed Answer: Your ultrasound scan is absolutely normal. There is no question of a pregnancy here. So dont worry. Get a complete urine examination done. Can you tell me the dates of the B HCG reports and the corresponding values ? I can then corelate it with the ultrasound scan. Take care.

Brief Answer: AS BELOW Detailed Answer: I am certain you underwent a miscarriage / chemical pregnancy. Please repeat the B HCG test, which by now would show a drastic fall.

Thank you doctor. What baffles me though is that I am not having any bleeding otherwise. Just the plasma/ blood clot ( sometimes the size of an almond sometimes just like dust) when I pass urine. No pain (by the grace of god) in the abdomen. Isn't miscarriage supposed to accompanied with heavy bleeding and pain ? I will do Hcg test today.

Brief Answer: AS BELOW Detailed Answer: Pain and heavy bleeding is not always the norm. Early pregnancy miscarriages are often silent. ANd you did have bleeding / passage of blood clots, and the HCG levels clearly point to a miscarriage. A repeat value will confirm.
