Brief Answer:
Steam inhalation should help.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. You might be prone to catching cold. It creates a vulnerability for the Eustachian tubes on either side (connecting between the inner throat and the middle ear). The purpose of these tubes is to equalize the air pressure inside the middle ear cavity. Mucus block of these tubes leads to pressure imbalance leading to the spinning of head and possibly altered hearing. An audiometry needs to be done to understand the exact nature of the problem. Steam inhalation is the mainstay of treatment. Water in form of vapor will reach deep inside and would help in diluting the mucus, thus providing relief. It will also help in opening up the sinuses and would help in their drainage. As such, the sinuses have poor blood supply and medicines do not reach there easily. But steam can freely reach there.

Other than that, vestibulocochlear stabilizing agents like cinnarizine or betahistine might be needed. Please discuss with your treating physician whether they would be right for her. Putting something in the ears will not help as the problem is unlikely to involve the external ears (extending upto the eardrum).

Another possibility to consider is cervical spondylosis as that could also lead to the spinning of your head. If that is the case, an X Ray of the cervical spine (AP and lateral) would help in diagnosis of the same. Static neck exercises would provide relief. Based on the findings of the X ray, a physical therapist can help you with the same.

Let me know if I could help further.
