Question: Hi

I need some advice. Today i was sat in car on the phone. I had a dull ache in head and forehead. Also i felt my left upper chest feel full but no pain. I was looking at my phone and suddenly i felt lightheaded and dizzy then my hands got sweaty and my body felt warm it last about 1 minute but during all times no pain.

What could be this? Could it be anxiety or a illness?

Brief Answer:
Anxiety can present with such symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. The symptoms like dull headache, fullness in epigastric region, sudden dizziness, sweating in hands etc could occur due to anxiety. The symptoms lasted for one minutes only which further strengthens the diagnosis of anxiety.

But I would also like to know if such symptoms occurred before also?

If such symptoms occurred today only then you can ignore these symptoms completely. Some times due to change in neurotransmitters levels in brain such anxiety symptoms can be seen. Relaxation exercises like Breathing Exercise can help to reduce such symptoms.

So no need to worry such symptoms can occur in mild anxiety and can be controlled by relaxation exercises.

Thanks, hope this helps you. Take care

The symptoms that occured today have never happend before?
My usual anxiety symptoms were me thinking too much and all of a sudden i would have sudden heart rate increase, sweating numbness and after2-3 minutes i would be perfect

I am on Prapranolol for these symtoms but for 2days i have not had this medication.

Today was different it was like my head was going to give up and dizziness

Brief Answer:
The symptoms were part of anxiety only

Detailed Answer:
Hello again, thanks for a follow up question

As you are suffering from anxiety and you have episodes of symptoms like palpitations, sweating, numbness etc so most likely the symptoms you had in car were part of that anxiety only.

You are already taking Propranolol which is a beta blocker medicine so it would help you in controlling these symptoms. Stopping propranolol could be the reason for aggravation of your symptoms and heaviness in head.

No need to worry for that, please start taking the doses of Propranolol as per prescription again and you would feel improvement in your symptoms. If symptoms persist even after that then consult your psychiatrist for detailed evaluation.

Thanks, hope this helps. Still have more doubts please ask again.
