Question: here goes
9yr old female tested high ketones in her urine 3 days ago, has augmentim antibiotice precribed and pamol, still awaiting test result back
still presents with
headaches, lethargic, sore lower back-mid and flank, some belly pain, no appetite, looks sick physically
diabetes type 1? bladder, kidney infection?
she has been getting the sore back on and off for quite awhile now

Thanks for your question.
Sorry to know about your daughter's illness.

Yes there is likely possibility of urinary infection. There is a need for close monitoring of blood sugar levels with clinical monitoring. Therefore in such circumstance, I prefer patient's to be hospitalised.
Besides, I also suggest the following investigation:
Complete Blood Count
HbA1c
Urine examination & culture.
Urinary ketone monitoring
Arterial blood gas (ABG) .
Ultrasound of abdomen & pelvis.

- Frequent blood sugar monitoring.
If acidosis present on ABG there may be need for intravenous insulin.

- Maintainace of hydration & electrolytes.

Back ache & soreness requires physical examination it may be due to dehydration or may denote upper urinary tract infections.
