What Causes Heart Palpitations, Shortness Of Breath, Fatigue And Dizziness?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Dec 2014
Question: I have several ECG strips from my LINQ inserted loop monitor that are very curious. I'm told these are 'harmless PVC's' but they sure don't feel that way. I've been on every anti-arrhythmic drug on the market with no improvements. Admitting I have no training, but a good eye for pattern recognition, some of these strips show what look like LBBB and premature ventricle complexes. I have attached a couple of the sheets from several dozen reports.

1: 'Palpitations', shortness of breath on occasion, some dizziness, great fatigue, seriously distracting from concentration at work and other activities and sleep...like a monkey jumping up and down on my chest.
2: I have had numerous holter monitors, event monitors, etc since the days of the old miniature reel to reel tape unit to the one that works with it's own smart phone, all have been of little use as my symptoms were 'elusive', apparently, so I now have an inserted LINQ continuous loop monitor in my chest, with a bedside transmitter, which is where these pages I sent came from. The readings are scanned by techs before anything "significant" is sent on to my current cardiologist or electrophysiologist. I've watched them scan this info, the data is very tiny and hard to read until they 'zoom in' on a section, so possibly because of patient load or time factors, unless they see something huge they may be missing some details.
3: Several echos have been done, and even a couple stress test with echo which apparently show nothing of great concern, or at least there has been no change in diagnosis, prescription or directive.
4: Other health problems are the usual 'old age' kind of thing, probably some thyroid problems after a bout with amiodarone for several months messing up my thyroid. No energy, feeling stupid, cold hands & feet, total E.D., body hair of a 10 year old boy, pot belly without diet change or eating habits changed, puffy eyes and growing small breasts.
5: Current prescription is propafenone and warfarin for 'possible' A-fib, which I don't ever recall seeing or hearing any real confirmation of symptoms for that.

There's the symptoms....Next?

Brief Answer:
Most important aspect is to stop worrying

Detailed Answer:
I guess major concern here is your concentration and pre occupation with symptoms. Generally event on loop recorders a very very difficult to miss. The machine itself scans and screens everything and trained techinician can iball and know the issue. SInce nothing is found Nothing is there. About your symptoms yes even the innocent VPCs can sometime be symptomatic and best treatment is start ignoring them. You are on right medicines. and continue same. If symptoms still persists some anxiolytics or beta blockers may help

Seems to be common advice in this condition. Difficult to do when trying to sleep with a monkey jumping up and down on your chest. Or with an invisible tormentor punching you in the heart or 'choking' your heart all day. I suppose I'll have to develop some strong 'ignoring' skills to live with this problem.
Thanks for your time.

Brief Answer:
Need not worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing back.

Need not worry. Anyway keep a keen observation on the condition by repeating Loop recording at regular intervals with an EKG. Continue the treatment you are on, there are chances symptoms can come down over time.

Wish you good health.
