default
Posted on Mon, 21 Sep 2015
Question: My left upper eye lid at times feels heavy. No pain just heavier than the right. And there is a burning sensation with tearing that frequently happens when I'm watching television. Should I be worried.

Brief Answer:
yes you need proper eye check up from an ophthalmologist.

Detailed Answer:
Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you to my virtual clinic HCM!
I have carefully worked through your case, and can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

Probable Cause:-
When we focus at an object nearby, it involves accommodation and the eye muscles are involved and they need to work harder. The lens of the eye also is involved to focus the focal length according to the object's distance from the lens.

When there is a problem with the accommodation (in simple words vision problem) there are symptoms as you are experiencing right now.

Another reason may be increased eye pressure (Intraocular pressure).

I preferably refer you to an Ophthalmologist for proper eye checkup and investigations in-office to rule out the cause. They will screen you for vision problems, eye pressure, optic nerve issues or anything related to eye muscles. Treatment goes according to the cause.

Avoid TV, coffee, tea, chocolates, soda, alcohol, energy drinks and cigarette smoking.

Have a wonderful time ahead. Hope I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you have any further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you in no time. If satisfied here, please give a generous five star rating and don't forget to close the discussion.
For any disease you have, a timely follow-up after sometime regarding the treatment efficacy and to see any need to change the treatment options is very necessary. Keep a follow up some days after this visit session ends.
