Question : Hi. I had some beef salad last evening. Ever since then i feel something heavy on my right side under the ribs. It also hurt after i ate it. What is the matter. I also had some red 'stuff' in my stole this morning.

It could be due to indigestion.

Hi,

The symptoms could be due to indigestion.

Color of the stool depends on the food you have taken. The RED stuff could be any ingredient in the food which came out undigested. If it is not blood, nothing to worry.

As there is no loose stool, infection of the gut is excluded.

I suggest Proton pump inhibitor like Rabeprazole/Omeprazole 20mg twice daily before food , Pre and Probiotic capsule (eg. SYNPROTIK, PREPRO HS, ILAC etc.) twice daily after food to my patients with similar complaints.

Nothing to worry. It will come down.

How can i tell if it was blood or not? The salad did have some pepper(not spicy) in it. Thanks!

Blood will come out as drops or come as a streak with hard stool.
Most probably, it could be some undigested food particle.
