Question : My husband hit his inner thigh last night and now has a bump which looks like blood forming. He has been diagnosed with AFib and has a 95% blockage in one of the branch arteries at the joint with the main artery. He is on Xeratol and another heart rate med right now. Could there be any risk in this forming into clot and causing life threatening problem? Age 78, 6', 230lbs

Brief Answer:
It isn't dangerous.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

It is normal that after an injury an hematoma will form in that area. This happens because trauma can rupture small blood vessels in the skin causing the blood to accumulate in the surrounding tissue.
This is normal and happen even in minor injuries. It usually goes away in its own in 1-2 weeks.
In your husband's case is expected that a larger hematoma will form following the trauma because he is taking a blood thinner drug (Xarelto) that makes more difficult for the blood to coagulate.

You have nothing to worry about. He can apply cold compresses in the injured area for the pain.
The hematoma will take some time to go away.It isn't dangerous.
The blood clots that can form in that are are out the blood vessels and it is impossible for them to enter in the bloodstream and be dangerous.

Your blood is taking blood thinners (Xarelto) which is an anticoagulant that help reduce the risk of stroke and blood clots.
So you have nothing to worry about.

Hope it was of help.
Let me know if you have any other question or doubt to clarify.I will be happy to assist you further.

Kind Regards!
