Brief Answer:
Both are different but they help.

Detailed Answer:

Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. You are having disc prolapse with radiating pain in leg Amitriptyline is a dibenzocycloheptadiene tricyclic antidepressant. It is prescribed also in case of disc prolapse as it is also thought that depression may be associated with it.
Nucoxia MR is analgesic and muscle relaxant drugs used for pain relief in disc prolapse.
Mecobalamine is helpful in recovery of neuralgic pains. Rest in lateral position with both hips and knees flexed is useful in pain relief.

You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.

Your answer is really helpful. Can you kindly guide me another query, as I am planning for a baby, can I go for that with a prolapsed disc? And can you guide me any particular exercise/ posture to get quick relieve from the leg pain as it is very severe and I am unable to go for work.
Thanks again for your valuable time

Brief Answer:
You can plan a baby.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back

You can plan a baby. There is no contradiction to plan a baby in disc prolapse. Only concerned is rest is needed in treatment of disc prolapse. Best position of rest I have already mentioned is lateral position with both hips and knees flexed.

Exercises are only started after pain relief. Light back exercises will be helpful. You can see on this link http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=a00302.

Again I advise you go for work after pain relief otherwise pain is likely to increase.
You can discuss with your doctor about it.
Everything else already discussed.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.
