Brief Answer:
It spreads only by close Physical contact

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms

First and foremost let me reassure you there is definitely no need to be worried about.

Inflammed ear and throat is unlikely to be sexually transmitted Herpes. Even if it's Herpes It's likely to be Herpes Simplex (caused by Herpes simplex virus 1: HSV 1). This herpes usually occurs in individual who have respiratory tract infection and in old age.
It's unlikely to be transmitted by use of bathroom or inhaling the same air. It's transmitted through close Physical contact with infected person.
Rest be assured and be relaxed.

In case you require any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Take care
