What Causes High Fever With Neck Pain?

Question: Ok, thanks. I am age 75 male, no meds, active, vitamins daily. last wed I got too hot and became weak and washed out, body sweat wet my clothes. Since then, I have no energy and cronic neck pain like a crick in both directions I turn my head. Aspirin and tylenol gives me temporary relif.

Fever/ heat exhaustion or feeling un usually hot with neck pain can signify a number of conditions. Based on your description, thyrotoxicosis needs to be ruled out. An EKG, Thyroid function tests, CBC , Chest x ray and ESR should be done. These investigations are required to look for a possible cause for these symptoms. Many medications can lead to variable side effects. The drugs should be checked for any interaction plus newly found side effects. Metabolic profile including renal and liver function tests need to be done.
