Question : I just got my lab results. My metamyelocytes and my myelocytes are "High". The lab was "TA", the result was 3 on each. My NRBC was high at 1, INR was High at 3.9, and prothrombin Time was high at 44.8. I ordered my own labs because I have been getting sick regularly for the past year, and wondered if I had a food allergy. I have gone to 3 doctors who keep telling me nothing is wrong - Which I hope is true, and I know they are trying! But I get violent flu like systems and have to figure out what is going on..again, thus the food allergy test. Before I call my doctor AGAIN about this lab, I am wondering if this is a big deal.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Metamyelocytes evolve from myelocytes. They are precursors of white blood cells which are used in the body to fight inflammation/infection.
This means that eventually they form one of the types of white blood cells.

Normally metamyelocyte and myelocytes are zero.

Increase in these values may indicate high cell turnover and the body is trying to repair itself or it may indication that there is an infection or source of inflammation. One possible source of inflammation would be a non benign conditions i.e cancer, though this is a very small possibility.

NRBC is nucleated red blood cells- these are precursors of red blood cells- they develop into red blood cells
Normally these are not seen in adults and indicate the need for further tests.

The high INR and high PT indicate a possible increased risk of bleeding.

It is possible that these abnormal results may indicate that there are issues with the bone marrow but if the Total wbc (and lymphocytes and neutrophils), hb and platelet count are normal in your result then it is unlikely to be serious.

Your doctor may choose to repeat these tests to confirm the results. If the repeat are also as above then test such as measuring clotting factors, vitamin K , liver function tests, peripheral blood smear (looking at blood under a microscope).

I hope this helps , feel free to ask any other questions
