Brief Answer:
About high parathyroid hormone production:

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking!
Parathyroid glands are 4 small glands located posteriorly of the thyroid gland. They arr responsible to produce parathyroid hormone wich maintains calcium balance in the organism.
High parathyroid production is caused mainly by an enlargement of one of these glands ( parathyroid adenoma) and more rarely by an enlargement of four of the glands ( parathyroid hyperplasia).
Radiological images help usually to differentiate them (if there is one or more glands responsible for overproduction).
The treatment is usually surgicall.
Hope i have answered your query.
Best wishes,
Dr.Mirjeta
