Question: I currently show a 52 thyroid antibody which alarmed my derm but GP says it’s just because I was diag with Hashi’s 10 years ago and the antibody is still in my system. That high number I read could mean you have collagen disease.

Good evening

Thank you for writing on health care magic

Well, hashimotos is an autoimmune disorder that is the antibodies are produced in your system which are attacking the thyroid gland.

It is very common to have a high titre of antibodies and anti thryoglobulin antibodies too.

But saying that you do have a tendency to develop other autoimmune diseases. You need to keep a watch on other symptoms like joint pains, oral ulcers, excessive hair fall, Raynaud's, cough, dry eyes, dry mouth. These are very non specific symptoms but something you should be aware of but don't let then overpower ur daily routine

You can get ANA, ENA profile checked. That would complete the work up and give us a fair idea on what other antibodies you have

Do let me know for more queries

Would be happy to help you out.
