Question : Hello, my daughter was recently put on Prozac and Trileptal. It's been about a month on the Prozac and 2 weeks with the added trileptal. In the last week she has been experiencing large hives on her trunk, on her eyelids, and on the back of her neck. She has also been experiencing heightened anxiety and extreme exhaustion. Help? Is she having reactions that would suggest she stop taking these medications or the combination of the two. She was previously on Latuda and had to be taken off that due to her extreme depression and increased anxiety as a result of taking it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Dose and regimen modification might be required

Since Trileptal has been already in use over the last two weeks, it is very unlikely that the hives would be due to Trileptal since no reactions were present, to start with. However, the increased anxiety and extreme anxiety are likely to be due to these medications. You need to talk to her psychiatrist for dose modification or regimen alteration. It is hard for me to comment specifically since such medications need to be given only under close monitoring as they modify the neurotransmitter levels.
