Question: Hello,

I'm not sure if you can see the question I asked previously..

One week ago I had unprotected sex with a new partner and was worried about having caught an std.

Since then I have had cramping, it feels like my period is coming but nothing has happened yet. And yesterday I started having hot flashes which right now is starting come feel like a fever.

Do you think the hot flashes and fever could be from something I picked up from him?

Explaining the situation

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your message. I think I can help you.
The fact remains that after intercourse, the periods are always delayed.
When the periods are delayed lots of symptoms come into play.
I think that you have the same symptoms.
It would of course be good to rule out STI.
But I don't think that the cause of the symptoms is STI.
I HAVE tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.

Ok thank you for your response. Yes I will go and get tested this week. I am very worried about HIV.. especially since reading that fever is usually the only symptom early on. I know its hard to say, but do you think this is likely?
He just got out of a 5 year relationship so I don't really think he is likely to be infected, but maybe he picked it up since.
I've also read that its not common to contract HIV after just one exposure to it.

Or could this by a symptom of pregnancy?

Thanks for your help!!

Detailed Answer:
I am sorry.
But both HIV and pregnancy are possible.
And both can't be found without tests.
As for partners status, can you be sure about the status of his ex?
What I am trying to say is we can't be sure without tests.
I hope that the information helps you.

Yes I know I can't be sure without tests.

I'm just trying to get some peace of mind right now since I won't be able to get any tests until Monday.

How likely would it be to have a fever from HIV less than a week after infection?
