Question: I am having very hot flashes where I have an air conditioner on plus a fan just to get cool I am 77 years old and I am scared.

Hot flashes are common in post menopausal women, it signifies changing hormones in the body. However few other issues like diabetes and hyperthyroidism can also cause this.

Here is how you should go about it

1. Get your thyroid function test along with blood sugar and Vit D levels done
2. If there are normal then please approach a gynaecologist for hormone replacement therapy for a short while to take care of the symptoms.

Do not worry or get scared of the hot flashes, it is common.
